It’s easy to be skeptical, and even confused, about how to reach your weight loss goals. No matter how you spend your time, throughout the day you’re targeted with advertisements about diets, pills, shakes, and programs offering a quick fix. They’re on social media, in your news feeds, on TV, and radio. You even see ads for weight loss clinics and health clubs on billboards as you drive to work! Everywhere you turn these ads are begging for your attention.
You can’t help but wonder, “could this one be the answer?”
How can you know if this one or that one is legit? Is it worth your time, energy, and investment? Is it even safe or proven? Maybe you’ve even wasted hours researching but you’re still left unconvinced that they’ll work. You’ve been disappointed more than once before.
Sound about right?
Let me just tell you it’s good to question the legitimacy of ads. Advertisements with big claims, extreme promises, and limited-time offers should raise at least a question or two. Maybe even a red flag.
I’m going to confirm a couple of things that you probably already suspected…

Marketers and their clever ads pray on your weaknesses and your deepest desires. They talk your lingo and make you feel like they’re inside your head – like they really know you and care about you. They play with your emotions and make you think that they have the one and only solution to your problems.
At the end of the day, it’s all about making sales for them. That’s it. These companies are not interested in healing you.
It’s no wonder you don’t know where to start. There’s so much information out there about weight loss resistance, it’s confusing! But the real answer is actually quite simple – to overcome weight loss resistance you need to get to the root cause.
Weight loss and getting rid of that muffin top begins with uncovering the root causes of your weight loss resistance. When you know the root cause you can create a plan that will actually create lasting results.
It’s like when you take your car to the mechanic and you explain the “symptoms” your car is having. An experienced mechanic knows where to look, but will also run diagnostic tests to pinpoint any and all underlying causes that may be contributing to your car’s issues. With that information in hand, the mechanic knows what’s broken and what it’ll take to fix it. And after he’s done your car is running like new again.

Your digestive tract is the gatekeeper to your health. A highly complex system, your gut is responsible for breaking down the food you eat and assimilating the nutrients so your body can function properly.
Your gut is responsible for fueling every cell in your body and communicating with your brain so it can release hormones that affect every system in your body. That’s a lot of responsibility!
Going back to the car analogy for a minute, how well would your car perform on the highway if there’s cheap gas in the tank and the oil is low? What if you had a flat tire? Not so great, right?
It’s the same with your gut health.
Have you ever wondered why you can’t lose weight? No matter how much you’ve exercised, fasted, and ate only celery, your weight stayed the same. You’re not crazy. You have something called dysbiosis –an imbalance of gut bacteria.
We all have between 300-500 different types of bacteria inside our intestinal tracts.1 These bacteria are mostly beneficial to our health. In fact, they help your body digest and assimilate nutrients from your food. When you have a healthy gut, that simply means your good bacteria are thriving and doing a good job fueling your body. Everything is functioning properly. Your moods are stable and your mind is clear. You’re able to maintain a healthy weight and, overall, you feel really great.
But oftentimes our gut bacteria become imbalanced. You stop feeling like yourself. You…
So many symptoms are linked to your gut health.2 In fact, I’m convinced that most of our health issues and diseases begin there.
It may surprise you to know American’s suffer from nutrient deficiencies. As many as 30% of Americans are eating diets deficient in essential vitamins and minerals.3 Plus, our diets are full of low fiber foods, and processed foods that are high in sugars, preservatives, and additives. All of this harms your good gut bacteria.
When your good bacteria decline, your body can no longer absorb the vitamins and minerals it needs to function. That means your body is not getting what it needs in order to do its job to regulate your weight. Even if you’re eating salads. That’s because your body is in such a state of imbalance that it cannot absorb the nutrients you’re eating. This is called leaky gut.
Your weight loss resistance, brain fog, mood swings, and the drop in your libido – are all a result of internal stressors.
The bottom line, your gut needs to heal before you can lose the weight.
Sensitivities to foods are another culprit in weight-loss resistance because they create an immune response. While less severe than a food allergy, food sensitivities still elicit an immune response from your body. Your body recognizes a problem and naturally sets to work to correct it.
Most people have food sensitivities they aren’t even aware of. They continue to eat the foods that the immune system is attacking.
When you continue to eat foods that you’re sensitive to, you overwork your immune system. This creates more stress on your system. Now your immune system begins to attack healthy cells.
Left untreated, the lining of your intestinal walls becomes damaged and micronutrients are no longer absorbed into the bloodstream.
The single best way to discover how your weight loss resistance is linked to your gut health and repair it is with testing.
There’s no pill, diet shake, or exercise equipment that will magically make you lose weight. You know this. They may help, but nothing will give you the lasting results you want without proper testing.
High-intensity workouts can push your body deeper into a state of stress, creating higher levels of cortisol (your stress hormone) which perpetuate weight loss resistance. The same is true if you’re consuming diet shakes or pills that contain chemicals or ingredients your body is sensitive to. What you think is helping you is actually making things worse.
In order to overcome weight loss resistance, you need to assess and test. It takes all the guesswork out. And, it’s much easier than you think.
